Dropped my 2016 Colorado Z71 off at 3pm on Tuesday with minor oil leak, was told that they were backed up, but a service tech should be able to get to my truck by Thursday to diagnose the leak, and that there is a $295 diagnostic fee that will come off the cost of repair... I ask if they could also replace the rear passenger turn signal wire harness, as it had corroded and had limited function, and to throw in an oil change as well, since the truck was in for service anyway... for all work entailed I was given an estimate of $1400, which seemed reasonable for the amount of work being done(I was told the $295 diagnostic fee would be applied towards repair)...
I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call on Thursday informing me that my truck was done and that I could pick it up around 4pm...
The service was great and done in a surprising timely manner...
The only issue I had was the amount I was charged for the 3 services I had done, for a total of $1466, and that was after the $295 diagnostic fee had been applied toward the cost of the repair, which would have put the initial cost at over $1700...
The total cost of repair seemed excessive, so I looked into what the total cost of each repair should have been based upon the industry average, and found that the average price to replace the oil cooling line runs between $600 and $800, the replacement of the turn signal wire harness runs around $200, and the full service oil and filter change with full synthetic is $79.95, so the total cost should have been closer to $1100($800 after the $295 diagnostic fee was applied to the cost of repair), and even less than that after the veteran discount is applied...
I had planned on replacing the faulty turn signal wire harness myself($106 at Auto Zone), as it is a simple quick fix, but I am still recovering from surgery and not up to crawling around under my truck to disengage the wire harness clip, so I figured I'd just have it done while my truck was in for the oil cooling line, but I was shocked when I realized I had been charged $400 for such a simple fix...
Overall, I am happy with the quality of the services performed, just not the exorbitant price, as what should have cost me no more than $1000, I was charged almost $1500... I know dealerships charge more, I just didn't expect it to be so excessive...
I love my dealership, and use them for all my services, but with such excessive pricing, I may have to look elsewhere for my future service needs...
