2021 Chevrolet Colorado

Whether you use your 2021 Chevrolet Colorado on the job site, to haul a boat to the lake, or to take the family for a day of shopping in the city, this midsize pickup truck delivers. Take a look at why it gives other midsize trucks a run for their money.

Trim Levels

You can get the latest Colorado with either two or four doors, and it comes as a crew cab or an extended cab. Choose from the four available trims: the Work Truck, LT, Z71, and ZR2. The boxy frame, aggressive front grille, lower bumper design, and redesigned tailgate give the Colorado a modern, sporty look. When you're looking for an off-road-oriented trim, choose the Z71 or ZR2 with red tow hooks and a black-lettered grille with flow-through lettering.

Engine

Two engine options come paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The standard engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque. The optional turbocharged 2.8-liter four-cylinder Duramax diesel engine that produces 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque can also be equipped. A 3.6-liter V-6 engine that delivers 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and this powertrain comes standard on the off-road-ready ZR2.

Performance

Take your Colorado straight from the showroom to the trails when you choose the Z71 or ZR2 trim levels. These two trims come with hill descent control, air dampers, an off-road-oriented suspension, all-terrain tires, protective skid plates, an electronic locking rear differential, fender flares, and special front and rear bumpers. The other trims handle well due to fine-tuned suspension and a superb steering system. Rear-wheel drive comes standard with the option to upgrade to four-wheel drive which is standard on the Z71 and ZR2. When properly equipped, the Colorado can tow up to 7,700 pounds with a maximum payload capacity of 1,550 pounds. To spruce up your ZR2 even more, choose the ZR2 Bison with American Expedition Vehicles bumpers, special AEV skid plates, customized wheel moldings, and 17-inch wheels with 32-inch off-road tires.

Interior

You can carry four people in the extended cab and five in the crew cab. Depending on the trim, you get a range of seating materials from basic vinyl to luxurious leather. Upper trims and optional packages feature a heated and ventilated power-adjustable driver's seat and a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel. Standard across the Colorado lineup you'll find Chevrolet's Infotainment 3 system with a 7-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Add the Information Package and get an 8-inch touch screen with voice-activated navigation, a wireless charging pad, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and extra USB ports.

Safety Features

All the Colorado trims come with Chevrolet's Safety Assist bundle of driver-assist technologies. Standard features include Teen Driver which lets you set speed limit and audio controls as well as get a report card on your teenager's driving behaviors. Other standard features include a trailer-sway control system, a forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, lane mitigation systems, and IntelliBeam automatic high-beam headlight control.
