2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The Silverado full-size light-duty pickup from Chevrolet is one of the best in the segment, and it just keeps getting better.

Trim Levels

The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado is a full-size pickup truck that comes in eight trim levels. It's further configurable with three cab styles and three bed lengths. Standard exterior features on the base trim include 17-inch steel wheels, black bumpers and matching accents, 12 cargo tie-downs, and halogen headlights. You can further outfit the base Work Truck with a number of packages and standalone options. Higher-level exterior features include LED lighting, chrome trim, upgraded alloy wheels, an upgraded tailgate that opens and folds six ways, and a spray-in bedliner. If you plan to take your truck off-roading, the Custom Trail Boss and LT Trail Boss trims will offer the features you want. With the Custom Trail Boss comes 18-inch wheels outfitted with all-terrain tires, an upgraded suspension package, and an automatic locking rear differential. Those features come standard on the LT Trail Boss, along with a more powerful engine, a heavy-duty battery, and an auxiliary transmission oil cooler.

In addition to a wide range of trim levels and customization options, the Silverado 1500 is also available with multiple powertrains. The base engine is a capable 4.3-liter V-6 unit that products 305 pound-feet of torque and 285 horsepower. It works with a six-speed automatic transmission. The next option is a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, rated at 348 pound-feet of torque and 310 horsepower. This unit pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. You can also choose a 5.3-liter V-8 engine, which pumps out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder engine creates 460 pound-feet of torque and 277 horsepower. Both of those engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on most trims, although four-wheel drive is an option across the board.

The 2021 Silverado 1500 is near the top of the segment when it comes to towing and hauling capacities. When properly equipped, the truck can tow up to 13,300 pounds while the payload capacity comes in at 2,280 pounds. The available diesel engine is the most efficient of the options. When it comes to driving performance, the Silverado 1500 handles well and feels powerful.

Standard cabin features on the 2021 Silverado 1500 base trim include vinyl upholstery, manual climate control, rubber flooring, power accessories, and a six-speaker sound system with a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, and Bluetooth connectivity. As you move through the trim levels, you can get upgraded comfort features, such as cloth or leather upholstery, carpeted floors, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated rear seats, and power-adjustable, heated, and ventilated front seats. On the tech side, enhancements include a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, an 8-inch touch screen, wireless smartphone integration, a seven-speaker Bose sound system, wireless phone charging, and navigation.
