2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Chevrolet took its Trailblazer SUV off the market more than a decade ago, much to the dismay of many buyers. However, it's back in the lineup for 2021, boasting a number of appealing features.

Trim Levels

The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer is a subcompact SUV that comes in five trim levels. These are the L, LS, LT, Activ, and RS. The front end of this new model showcases aggressive styling with cues inspired by the ever-popular Camaro. With the L trim, you also get black front and rear fascias, signature LED daytime running lights, halogen headlights, a manual liftgate, and 16-inch steel wheels. With the LS, you get a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, while the LT adds tinted rear windows, fog lights, roof rails, and heated side mirrors. Stepping up to the Activ trim gives you unique styling elements, a stylish two-toned roof, and glossy black wheels outfitted with all-terrain tires that can tackle all types of terrain. The RS has similar features to the Activ, although it has its own distinctive set of 18-inch alloy wheels.

All trims but the Activ come equipped with a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that generates 162 pound-feet of torque and 137 horsepower. It works in conjunction with a continuously variable transmission. With the Activ trim, you get a stronger 1.3-liter three-cylinder engine that produces 174 pound-feet of torque and 155 horsepower. This unit pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels.

When you want more control, consider choosing the Activ trim with the nine-speed transmission, as this powertrain delivers smooth, even shifting that puts more control in your hands. Front-wheel drive comes standard across the board, although the Activ has Chevrolet's all-wheel-drive (AWD) system as standard equipment. Additionally, the AWD system is a standard upgrade when you choose the more powerful engine as an option on any of the other trim levels.

When compared to the cargo and interior space of other subcompact SUVs, the 2021 Trailblazer leads the segment. It's quite roomy in both rows of seating and comes standard with manually adjusted front seats, a four-speaker sound system with a 7-inch touch screen, cloth upholstery, single-zone manual climate control, Chevy's infotainment system, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration. Moving up to the LS adds a fold-flat passenger seat, a compass, two additional speakers in the audio system, and floor mats. Opt for the mid-level LT to get remote engine functionality, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and keyless entry and ignition. Inside the Activ trim, you'll find leather upholstery as well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. At the top of the list is the RS, which has driver's seat lumbar support and red interior accents. You can further enhance the cabin with rear USB charging ports and an upgraded infotainment system featuring an 8-inch touch screen, wireless charging, and a Bose audio system.

Safety Features

All 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer models include the Chevy Safety Assist bundle, which includes forward collision mitigation, lane-keep assist, a rearview camera, and automatic high beams. You can also add the Driver Confidence package to the upper three trim levels, which gives you rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
