When you're shopping in the midsize SUV segment, be sure to check out the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse. This stylish three-row model has class-leading cargo space and plenty of features.

Trim Levels

The 2021 Chevrolet Traverse is a midsize three-row SUV that comes in seven trim levels: the L, LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, RS, Premier, and High Country. Even the base L trim comes equipped with automatic high-intensity discharge headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, black rocker moldings and complementary accents, a dual-outlet exhaust, heated and power side mirrors, LED daytime running lights and taillights, and a manual liftgate. The LS adds dark-tinted rear privacy glass and provides access to a number of optional packages. Both the LT Cloth and LT Leather trims add fog lights and roof rails, while the LT Leather trim is available with a package that bundles 20-inch wheels and additional safety features. The RS comes with 20-inch dark-finish wheels and blacked-out styling elements. Near the top of the list is the Premier, which tacks on a hands-free liftgate and LED headlights. The top-of-the-line High Country trim has a panoramic sunroof and towing features, including a trailer hitch.

Engine

Every trim of the 2021 Traverse comes equipped with a powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine that produces 266 pound-feet of torque and 310 horsepower. It pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. All-wheel drive is an available upgrade on all trims except the base L model.

Performance

When it comes to acceleration, the Traverse doesn't disappoint. You can get going quickly, thanks to the power of the capable 3.6-liter V-6 engine. In speed testing, the SUV went from zero to 60 mph in just 7.1 seconds, putting it near the top of the three-row SUV segment. The transmission can make adjustments for fuel economy and shifts to maintain peak efficiency. The brake system is responsive and the steering feels precise.

Interior

One of the key advantages of the 2021 Traverse over other three-row SUVs is the interior space. It's one of the roomiest models in the segment, boasting impressive comfort for up to eight people and plenty of cargo space. With both rows of seats folded down, you have 98.2 cubic feet of storage space. Standard interior equipment includes cloth upholstery, tri-zone climate control, a 7-inch touch screen with an onboard Wi-Fi hot spot, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, and manual front seats. As you move through the higher trims, you can get additional features designed for comfort and connectivity. On the comfort side, options include leather upholstery, heated, ventilated, and power-adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and a power-folding third row. Tech upgrades include wireless device charging, navigation, a premium 10-speaker sound system, and an 8-inch touch screen.

Safety Features

All 2021 Chevrolet Traverse models come equipped with anti-lock brakes, a rearview camera, advanced air bags throughout all three rows of seating, stability and traction control, Teen Driver settings, and OnStar emergency telecommunications. The LT trims add blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and rear parking sensors, while the optional Chevy Safety Assist package bundles forward collision mitigation and lane-keeping assist. Additional safety options include a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, and upgraded automatic braking.
