The winter season is quickly approaching, and we all know that winter can be harsh in Waterford. To ensure that your vehicle can withstand the elements, it’s important that you’re prepared. Joe Lunghamer Chevrolet is sharing the Chevy service you need and a few other helpful tips.

Inspect Your Tires

Good tires are crucial for winter streets. Your tires should have at least 6/32 of an inch of tread to ensure you have the traction you need. Ideally, you should replace your tires with winter tires, which are specially designed for driving on snow and ice.

Check Your Fluids

We encourage you to check your vehicle’s fluids and top them off, which can limit undue wear throughout the season. If It’s time for a replacement, make sure that you replace the fluid(s) instead. We also recommend always having at least half a tank of gas throughout the winter, which can prevent water condensation from freezing and ensure you’re always equipped for emergencies.

Pack an Emergency Kit

A fuel reserve isn’t the only thing you need for emergencies. You should also keep your vehicle stocked with supplies, such as:

  • Ice scraper and small shovel
  • Kitty litter or sand
  • Blanket
  • Flashlight
  • Small tool kit
  • First aid kit
  • Bottled water and non-perishable snacks

Wash Your Vehicle Regularly

Even though your vehicle will continue to get dirty throughout the winter, you still need to wash it regularly. While road salt is crucial for your safety, it can be harmful to your vehicle. Without regular washes, it can lead to rust and corrosion.
